National Day of Service

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

                                                                                              -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Powerful words from the late Dr. King.

The great thing about quotes is that you can use them to illistrate points.  Even if the author did not intend it that way........ I will be using his words, to describe our world.  The world of volunteering......

To me,  this quote describes our everyday.  Those of us who choose to give ourselves for the betterment of others, whether it be volunteering or faith motivated,  give up the comforts of "easy" jobs.

We could all be doing other things. We could easily choose ourselves, but instead we Give ourselves.  Without vanity or approval.  But for the opening of our hearts and comfort that comes from doing the right thing.

But those conveniences do not make the person, work ethic and the Want to help, makes the person.  Those of you, who gave your time on this national day to service, I say "Thank You"...

Those of you, who gave up conviences during your break from school, I say "Thank You"...

The gift of time is priceless...

Thank You,
