Call for Volunteers: KaBOOM! Build Day On November 20th

Save the date. Mark your calendars. Reserve this extremely important appointment in your smartphone, complete with an annoying reminder. The children of Mid-City are requesting your presence, skills, and enthusiasm, to help build their new KaBOOM! playground in Easton Park.

Who? KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating great playspaces for children through the participation and leadership of their communities. They have partnered with the Mid-City Neighborhood Organization, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and PNOLA to add a beautiful playground to Mid-City.

What? Not sure what a KaBOOM! Playground build involves? Well, you'll want to arrive around 8am for breakfast and to check in. Then you'll get assigned to a group, which will be in charge of putting together some sort of structure, the style of which has already been chosen by kids in the neighborhood. It might be a giant slide. It might be a spinny thing. It might be a super modern see-saw. Eventually, every group will start connecting their pieces to the main structure, and soon Easton Park will have one of the coolest playgrounds in New Orleans! Lunch is included, and at the end of the day (around 3pm!) you'll be left with the feeling that you've just contributed to the happiness of a whole lot of kids.

Where? Easton Park, on the corner of Toulouse and N. Rendon in Mid-City.

When? November 20th, from 8am to 3pm.

Why? You know you don't need a why. But if you do need more convincing, here's a slideshow of last year's build at Lakeview Presbyterian Church.

How? So you wanna build a playground? Fill out this form below! (18 or older only).
