Report on WallyFest

Despite the weather, WallyFest was a big success!  The party started around 4:30 with BBQ chicken and sausage, casseroles, and other snacks, food, and drinks from the neighbors.  WWL came by to cover the event and interview Wally and other party guests, while everyone else hung out in the back yard eating and talking.  Eventually it started to rain so everyone headed to the bar where there was live music already going on.  The band played "Happy Birthday" for Wally and Bobbi Rogers gave him his present, a digital photo frame preloaded with several pictures of Wally that have been taken over the years.  He also received a letter of recognition from a historic preservation organization.  Then, of course, there was cake, and the Hot 8 Brass Band played a few songs.  Later, WWL aired it's coverage of WallyFest.  Can't find it on their website, so for now watch this short interview with Wally by the National Trust for Historic Preservation so you can see why he's so important to us.
